Description:

The Graphic Engine Monitor ("GEM") was designed to over- come a major deficiency in traditional EGT/CHT engine in- strumentation. The GEM transforms 12 temperatures (EGT & CHT) into a simple, easy-to-read picture. In just a glance the pilot can compare critical engine temperatures without switching back and forth or even touching the instrument. The EGT display is interpreted much like a standard mer- cury thermometer; the higher the bar, the higher the temp. CHT is displayed on the same column with the EGT read- ing. Shows as a non-illuminated bar in the lower part of the field of orange bars. This "black bar" display method con- centrates the information for easy comparison of each cyl- inder's EGT & CHT at a glance. Often a direct comparison will make diagnosis easier and more accurate. The intens- ity of its brilliant plasma display is automatically controlled for optimum viewing under all light conditions. GEM is designed for use with all 4 or 6 cylinder piston engine aircraft and is approved for nearly all aircraft under STC SA157NE. The size of the instrument is standard 2-1/4" and it operates on either 14 or 28 volt electrical systems. Kits include GEM-602 gauge EGT and CHT probes, wiring harnesses and crimp-on terminals. Please specify aircraft make, model and year.

Features

  • Displays up to 12 EGT, CHT temperatures.
  • Lean Mode: is used during cruise to identify the leanest cylinder. Lean Mode can be entered at any time. The GEM's microprocessor analyzes EGT temperatures and indicates the leanest cylinder by blinking the appropriate column.
  • Monitor Mode: each time that Monitor Mode is entered, the GEM microprocessor stores the EGT values into memory. Should any cylinder's EGT subsequently rise 50°F or more, the corresponding column will begin blinking to signal change in fuel flow or ignition.· Test Mode: is designed into the GEM system should trouble be suspected. Entering the test Mode causes each bar column to stack up, a bar at a time, until fully illuminated, then blank. Each successive column until all six have be done.
  • Automatic selection of the correct number of cylinders.
  • Automatic intensity control for all lighting conditions.
  • Whether you fly a home-built, war bird, or latest model aircraft, the GEM 602 provides a complete picture of EGT and CHT at a glance.
