The Hawkeye Flexible Borescope's glass-fiber imaging bundle has 18,000 fibers delivering high resolution. Acid leaching of the bundle makes space between the fibers so light does not spill from one to the other, reducing contrast. The plastic-coated, metal "gooseneck" sheath takes a "set" before insertion in a cavity. It is simpler and less expensive than articulated fiberscopes.With the Hawkeye Flexible Borescope, mechanics can see into engine cylinders hidden behind manifolds, or diecasters can examine the internal structure of complex parts.

The 90° Mirror Tip fits the Hawkeye Flexible Borescope, just as a mirror tube fits the Hawkeye rigid borescopes. Because the mirror adapter threads on, it is quite secure and will not fall off inside cavities.
